China’s passenger car exports to the US increased to a historic high of $2.9 billion in the first 10 months of this year
Based on the results of the first ten months of 2024, the volume of US passenger car purchases from China increased by 1.5 times to $2.89 billion. This was the highest value for such a period since 1992. Such statistics were not kept before.
In October, US imports of Chinese cars reached $398.6 million, increasing by 1.4 times in a month. This was the highest since August.
The greatest demand among Americans was for cars with an engine capacity of 1,500 to 3,000 cubic centimeters ($1.45 billion); golf carts, snowmobiles and other similar vehicles (839.3 million); as well as hybrid cars (371.2 million).
In addition, the US increased imports of vehicles for transporting ten or more people almost 10-fold – up to 26 million dollars in January-October of this year. These were mainly electric buses. Purchases of tractors from China also doubled – up to almost 42 million dollars.
