The decking boards are laid starting from the edge of the decking towards the house. If the last board is not the right size and has to be cut, it should be next to the wall: the decking is hollow and when cut, it becomes too fragile.
To prevent such a board from breaking, it should be installed in a place where it will be walked on less often.
Since decking boards can expand, they cannot be laid end to end. When installing, leave gaps of 5 mm between them. To do this, fasten row clips at each intersection of the board with the joist – you cannot skip them.
If the decking is long and you need to join the boards, then you also need to leave a compensation gap between them. For boards over 3 m long, the gap is 5-6 mm. The exact size of the gap can be calculated using the formula: board length × 0.002.
